Mentoring:
Through an initial grant from Liberty Mutual, Bird Street now offers a mentoring program for 20 at-risk youth annually. Lucas Orwig is taking applications from interested adults who have 2 to 4 hours per month to develop an ongoing relationship with a needy 10 to 14 year old. In addition to weekly or bi-weekly individual meetings, monthly socials for the entire group will be planned. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Ibraaheem Naazir, Team Leader/Mentoring Specialist, at (617) 282-6110, ext. 17.
Coaching:
Every year Bird Street Community Center runs several basketball and soccer
leagues for children 5 to 19. Volunteers
and staff coach these leagues.
Coaching is a great and fun way to give to the youth of
this community and to learn about the kids and their skills. Coaches are needed in the late afternoon and evening hours, and on Saturdays.

volunteers can help design activities for youth. Our teen center offers a place were anyone who likes to work
