Bird Street Community Center programs focus on giving youth guidance and opportunities to grow into productive and healthy adults. Two tracks offer children 5-19 ongoing activities:

School Age Child Care (SACC) is a state-certified after school enrichment program for children ages 5-13. The program meets daily, Monday through Friday, from 2-6 pm and 8 am to 6 pm on holidays and school vacations. SACC provides academic support, literacy, math coaching, science, arts and culture, Spanish and chess clubs, recreation, field trips and special events. Weekly rates depend on family income.

The Youth Development Program for youth, ages 10-19, includes the teen center, academic support, youth leadership training, workforce development (including part-time and summer youth employment), life-skills classes, arts and culture, community service, recreation and sports, and youth violence prevention.

Memberships are $15 per year plus a $5 refundable locker fee. Some field trips and special activities have separate fees. Scholarships are available for both memberships and activities.
