Bowdoin-Geneva Community Center architectural renderingThe Bowdoin-Geneva area of Dorchester is home to nearly 7,000 children under the age of 17 — by far the highest proportion of children to adults in Boston. This represents both a challenge in terms of providing appropriate care, support, and healthy and positive activities as well as much potential and promise for the community's future. A well-established network of community leaders, agencies, and resources lead by Dorchester Bay EDC have identified the need to build a new multi-purpose community center to serve young people, families, and seniors in the Bowdoin-Geneva area.

Bowdoin-Geneva Community Center proposed siteThe proposed Bowdoin-Geneva Community Center will include 49,000 square feet of usable space, incorporating the community center (gymnasium, classrooms, computer labs, club rooms, day care center, art studios), approximately 2,000 square feet of retail space, and the administrative offices of Bird Street Community Center. The day-to-day operations of the Center will be run by Federated Dorchester Neighborhood Houses and the Bird Street Community Center.
